About Beni Ourain rugs

Beni Ourain rugs take their name from a group of Amazigh (Berber) tribes in the Middle Atlas mountains of Morocco. The classic type has a thick wool pile on an ivory or cream ground, crossed by dark lines that form diamonds or a loose lattice.

They were first made as bedding and covers for cold mountain winters, which explains the deep, soft pile. In a room, that pile is warm underfoot and takes the edge off sound, while the pale ground keeps even a large rug light.

The lines are knotted by hand and never perfectly straight, so no two rugs are exactly alike. The sizes are just as individual: compare the exact length and width with your floor plan instead of looking for a standard size.

For sale today: 19 rugs, from 300 × 200 cm to 366 × 191 cm, priced from €1,797 to €4,710.

Every rug comes with a certificate of origin that names the weaver. Shipping, import duties and taxes are included in the price, and you have 14 days after delivery to decide.
