Beni Ouarain "Charcoal Diamonds"

Rows of small charcoal diamonds cover an oatmeal ground from one end to the other, each outlined by hand and none quite the same size as its neighbour. A zigzag line closes the pattern at both short ends. The drawing is dense, and still light enough to sit under dark furniture.

At 300 × 200 cm it has the size most living rooms are planned around: a sofa on one long side, a table in the middle, chairs opposite.
