Beni Ouarain "Open Crossings"

Grey-brown lines cross a cream field at wide intervals and meet in a few open diamonds, none of them closed on all sides. The drawing is loose and off-centre, with long stretches of bare pile between the strokes. In the detail photograph the lines sit slightly lower than the pile around them.

The rug is 310 × 206 cm. It is a calm choice for a room that already has pattern in its curtains or upholstery, and large enough to hold a sofa and a low table together.
