Beni Ouarain "Whisper Grid"

A quiet rug in warm cream with a drawing that is only a shade darker than the ground. Fine lines cross the field in slanting strokes and broken zigzags, more like pencil marks than a pattern. From across the room it reads as plain; the lines show when you stand on it.

At 315 × 205 cm it fills the centre of a living room without competing with what stands on it. The terrace photographs show how pale the lines are in full sun; the one on the wall shows them more clearly.
