Pink Rug: Blush, Dusty Rose and Fuchsia in Hand-Knotted Wool
Last updated
A pink rug has a worse reputation than it deserves. The colour is filed under nurseries, yet a muted dusty rose is one of the most comfortable tones a floor can have: as warm as beige, with more character. Pink has always belonged in Moroccan rugs, from pale blush to blazing fuchsia. The pieces on this page are knotted by hand in wool. It is a small selection: several Azilal rugs in which pink appears as drawing or as a field, and one dense Beni Mrirt in blush.

Dusty rose, blush, fuchsia, lilac
Dusty rose is pink with a dash of grey or brown. It is quiet and adult and agrees with almost anything. Blush is lighter and more delicate, close to a neutral. Both are safe choices for a large area.
Hot pink and fuchsia are the noisy cousins: clear, saturated and full of energy. On a floor they work best as an accent inside a pattern, or on a narrow format such as a runner. Lilac and mauve sit between pink and violet, cooler and a little more mysterious, and they go surprisingly well with grey.
What to put with a pink rug
Grey is the classic partner and takes every trace of sweetness out of pink. Green is better still: sage, olive and forest green lie opposite pink on the colour wheel, and each lifts the other. Navy adds depth, while cream and off-white hold everything together.
Among materials, timber, brass and linen keep the picture grown-up. Black in small doses, a lamp base or a picture frame, gives it an edge. Go easy on further pinks. A pink rug does not need a pink sofa. One cushion that picks up the tone is plenty.
Pink in a living room, a bedroom, a child's room
In a living room, dusty rose behaves like a warmer beige. In rooms with cool north light it supplies a warmth that grey and white rugs do not have. In a bedroom, blush is one of the gentlest colours for the first step of the morning.
Pink is often wanted for a child's room. A hand-knotted wool rug is a good choice there, because wool is robust, hard to set alight and pleasantly warm. It is not a play mat with roads printed on it, though. It is a rug that grows up with its owner and later looks just as right in a teenager's room or a hall.
Large pink rugs: what we have, and how to get a bigger one
A large pink rug works best when the pink is quiet. Over sixty or eighty square feet, blush, dusty rose or a rose-and-coral lattice on ivory reads as warmth; a saturated pink of that size takes over the room. Put it under a grey, cream or olive sofa, keep the walls white or greige, and let wood and brass supply the weight. In a bedroom, a large blush rug under the bed is one of the gentlest floors there is.
In stock, our largest pink rugs are living-room pieces about 6 ft 7 in to 6 ft 10 in wide and 9 ft 9 in to 10 ft 6 in long: a blush Beni Mrirt with striped bands, a violet Azilal in blocks of colour, and an Azilal with a fine rose and coral lattice on ivory. We have nothing larger in pink at present. For an 8 × 10 or a 9 × 12, the made-to-measure service is the route: you set the width and length to the centimetre and choose the ground and motif colours, and the atelier confirms the design and yarns with you before the rug is knotted.
A pink field, or pink in the drawing
It makes a great difference whether a rug is pink or contains pink. A plain rug in blush sets the tone of a room even when the shade is faint. An Azilal, by contrast, carries pink, coral or fuchsia as lines, diamonds and small fields on a pale ground. From across the room it reads as ivory with a warm glow; close up it is lively.
If you want to approach the colour gradually, begin with a patterned piece like that, or with a runner. Our rugs are newly knotted and have not been artificially aged or overdyed. Some Azilal come with soft tones of their own that look as if the sun had worked on them.
The rugs in this selection
The selection is small. Several runners, about 2 ft 4 in to 2 ft 9 in wide and around 10 ft long, show pink, fuchsia, peach and lilac. Beside them are rugs of living-room size, roughly 6 ft 6 in × 10 ft: an Azilal with rose and coral on ivory, one in violet, and a Beni Mrirt in blush crossed with cream stripes.
Each piece is knotted by hand, and its measured size is on its page. Colours shift a little from screen to screen, so read the description of the shade as well. Delivery is free worldwide, duties and taxes included.

Frequently Asked
Questions
- What colours go with a pink rug?
- Grey, cream and off-white as a base, with sage or olive green as the counterpart. Navy, wood and brass add depth and make pink look grown-up.
- What is the difference between blush and dusty rose?
- Blush is a pale, delicate pink that is close to neutral. Dusty rose is deeper and muted with grey or brown. Both are calmer and easier to combine than a clear pink or fuchsia.
- Is a pink wool rug hard to keep clean?
- Pale tones such as blush show marks sooner than mid-tones. Wool resists liquid at first, which gives you time to blot. Patterned rugs hide everyday traces best.
- Can a pink rug work in a modern living room?
- Yes. Dusty rose and blush in a matt wool pile are restrained and sit well with clean lines, grey upholstery and pale timber. The rest of the room should stay calm.

The person behind the piece
“Before you buy, I’ll send you a video of the actual rug in natural light — not a stock photo. I answer the messages myself.”
I’m Youssef. I started ARINID because this market is full of middlemen and machine-made imitations sold as the real thing — and I grew up close enough to the looms to know the difference.
Every piece we list is one of a kind, hand-knotted in Morocco. If you want to talk through sizing for your room, I’m on the other end of the message. A rug at this level is a thirty-year decision. You should be able to look the person selling it to you in the eye.
