Cream Rug 8x10: Ivory Wool in the Most Useful Size
A cream rug 8x10 is the answer to more rooms than any other combination of colour and size. Eight by ten feet takes a full seating group, a queen or king bed, or a table for six. Cream brightens whatever it lies on and agrees with whatever stands on it. Together they are the default for a reason. The rugs on this page are hand-knotted in Morocco, ivory and cream Beni Mrirt pieces close to eight by ten. Because they are made by hand, none measures exactly 8 × 10 ft, and the differences are worth understanding before you choose.

What an 8x10 rug fits
In a living room, an 8 × 10 holds a sofa of up to about 8 feet with two chairs, front legs on the rug and the coffee table in the middle. It suits rooms from roughly 11 × 13 ft, leaving 12 to 18 inches of floor at the walls. With a sectional, check that the rug reaches past the end of the chaise; if not, go up a size.
In a bedroom, lay it across the bed. Under a queen it leaves about 30 inches of rug on each side, under a king about 22. Under a dining table it works for six: the table can be up to 6 ft long and 3 ft 6 in wide and the chairs will still stay on the rug when pulled out.
Why none of these rugs is exactly 8 × 10
A hand-knotted rug is built on a loom, row by row, and comes off at whatever size the work produced. The pieces here range from about 8 ft to 8 ft 9 in wide and from 9 ft 11 in to 10 ft 6 in long. One is a little squarer, another a little longer. The sides are not perfectly parallel either.
In a room this hardly matters, and the slight irregularity is part of what separates a real rug from a cut piece of carpet. It matters only where the fit is tight: between two walls, in front of a hearth, or inside a bay. Measure that space and compare it with the exact figures given for each rug.
Plain, lined or patterned in cream
The plain pieces are the purest: a dense field of cream wool whose only decoration is the play of light in the pile. They are the calmest choice and the one that shows marks most readily.
Rugs with charcoal lines keep the brightness and add structure. A few horizontal strokes, or bands outlined in dark wool, give the surface a rhythm and give the rug an edge on a pale floor. A piece with a framed, more ornate drawing is the most traditional in feeling. With children, pets or a lot of traffic, any of the lined versions is easier to live with than pure cream.
Cream on your floor
On dark hardwood, a cream 8 × 10 is the highest-contrast choice there is, and it makes the seating area look like a lit stage. On mid-toned oak it reads as soft and warm. On pale floors, such as whitewashed boards, light tile or pale vinyl plank, a plain cream rug can blur into the background. Choose one with lines there, or rely on the depth of the pile to draw the edge.
Whatever the floor, put a rug pad underneath, cut an inch or two smaller than the rug. It keeps a large pale rug flat, which matters because ripples catch dirt, and it protects the knots from grinding against a hard surface.
Care, and what is on offer
Vacuum weekly with suction only. Blot spills at once with a white cloth and cold water; wool gives you a few minutes before liquid sinks in. Never use bleach, which yellows wool. Turn the rug end for end twice a year so that sunlight and footfall are shared out, and have it washed by a specialist every few years.
The selection is small, since each rug exists once: when a piece is sold it leaves the page. All are thick, heavy Beni Mrirt rugs. Delivery is free worldwide, duties and taxes included.

Frequently Asked
Questions
- Is an 8x10 rug big enough for my living room?
- For a sofa up to about 8 feet with two chairs, yes. The front legs of all the seats should rest on the rug. With a sectional or a larger group, 9 × 12 ft is usually the better fit.
- Will an 8x10 rug fit under a king bed?
- Yes. Laid across the bed, it leaves about 22 inches on each side and extends past the foot. Start it just in front of the nightstands rather than at the wall.
- Why do the listed sizes differ from 8 × 10 ft?
- Because the rugs are knotted by hand. Each comes off the loom at its own size, typically within a few inches of the nominal one. The measured dimensions are given for every piece.
- Is cream a sensible colour at this size?
- In a sitting room or bedroom with shoes off, yes. Wool resists spills briefly and vacuums clean. Under a dining table or with pets, a cream rug with dark lines hides marks much better than a plain one.

The person behind the piece
“Before you buy, I’ll send you a video of the actual rug in natural light — not a stock photo. I answer the messages myself.”
I’m Youssef. I started ARINID because this market is full of middlemen and machine-made imitations sold as the real thing — and I grew up close enough to the looms to know the difference.
Every piece we list is a one-off, hand-knotted in Morocco. If you want to talk through sizing for your room, I’m on the other end of the message. A rug at this level is a thirty-year decision. You should be able to look the person selling it to you in the eye.
