Large Cream Rug 200 x 300 cm: Ivory Wool, Knotted by Hand
A large cream rug at 200 x 300 cm is the rug most people picture when they picture a living room that works: pale wool, a few dark lines, a sofa sitting comfortably on top. The size, about 6 ft 7 in by 9 ft 10 in, is the one that fits under a three-seat sofa. The colour is the one that makes a room lighter. The rugs on this page are knotted by hand in Morocco in ivory and cream, and all of them measure between 195 and 220 cm wide and 290 to 320 cm long.

Why 200 x 300 is the size that fits
A three-seat sofa is 210 to 240 cm wide. A rug three metres long shows a clear margin at each end, and in two metres of depth there is room for the sofa's front legs, a coffee table and the front legs of a chair opposite. The whole group stands on one surface. That single rule does more for a living room than any accessory.
In a bedroom the same rug lies crosswise under a double or king bed, with 60 to 70 cm of wool on each side to step onto. Under a dining table it serves six, though only just. Leave at least 20 cm of floor along every wall, so the rug reads as a rug and not as fitted carpet.
Cream, not white
None of these rugs is bright white, and that is deliberate. Wool is warm in tone: ivory, cream, soft off-white. A warm tone looks gentle next to white walls instead of competing with them, and it sits happily with both cool grey and warm beige furniture.
On a very pale floor, a plain cream rug can melt into the boards. Choose one with dark lines or diamonds, which give the edge an outline. On a darker floor, walnut, stained oak or slate, the contrast is already there, and an almost plain rug comes into its own.
Diamonds, lines or signs
The diamond lattice is the classic. Diagonals crossing a pale ground, never quite regular, give the room a drawing without taking it over. It is the pattern that modernist architects brought into European houses in the last century, and it still looks current.
A few single lines are quieter and more contemporary. Free signs, small figures and zigzags scattered across the field, are more personal: there you see most clearly that someone invented the rug while making it. The signs may be dark or coloured, in cobalt, ochre or wine red, and then the rug is all the colour a room needs.
Three styles, three surfaces
A Beni Ourain has a long, soft pile and feels like a fleece underfoot. It is at its best in a living room or bedroom. An Azilal is usually a little thinner and lighter, with a paler ground and a finer drawing, and it copes well where people walk a great deal.
A Beni Mrirt is the densest and heaviest of the three. The pile stands close and springs back, and the rug lies flat under its own weight. All three are knotted by hand in wool. The difference shows most under bare feet, and in the way each takes the light: long pile gives deep shadows, dense pile a more even surface.
The rugs in this selection
Twenty-nine rugs in ivory and cream. Fourteen are Beni Ourain: seven with a lattice, most often of diamonds, four with lines, two almost plain and one with signs. Thirteen are Azilal: seven with free signs, three with chevrons, triangles or a diamond lattice, two with lines and one with a graphic drawing. Two are Beni Mrirt, one plain and one graphic.
All measure between 195 and 220 cm in width and 290 to 320 cm in length, roughly 6 ft 5 in to 7 ft 3 in by 9 ft 6 in to 10 ft 6 in. Larger pale rugs are on the page for large cream rugs. The measured dimensions are given on every listing. Delivery is free worldwide, duties and taxes included.

Frequently Asked
Questions
- Is 200 x 300 cm large enough for a three-seat sofa?
- Yes. The rug extends past the sofa at both ends, and the sofa's front legs, the coffee table and a facing chair all fit on it.
- What is 200 x 300 cm in feet?
- About 6 ft 7 in by 9 ft 10 in. It is the metric counterpart of a 7x10 rug.
- Is a cream wool rug hard to keep clean?
- Less than expected in a home where shoes come off. Wool resists soiling and dust barely shows on cream. Blot spills at once with cold water, and choose a patterned rug if the room sees heavy use.
- Are the rugs exactly 200 by 300 cm?
- No. Hand-knotted rugs vary. These are 195 to 220 cm wide and 290 to 320 cm long, and every listing gives the measured size.

The person behind the piece
“Before you buy, I’ll send you a video of the actual rug in natural light — not a stock photo. I answer the messages myself.”
I’m Youssef. I started ARINID because this market is full of middlemen and machine-made imitations sold as the real thing — and I grew up close enough to the looms to know the difference.
Every piece we list is a one-off, hand-knotted in Morocco. If you want to talk through sizing for your room, I’m on the other end of the message. A rug at this level is a thirty-year decision. You should be able to look the person selling it to you in the eye.
