Beni Mrirt "Grand Taupe"

Stripes of cream and pale beige cross this wool rug from side to side, uneven in width and soft at the edges. Thin raised lines run along some of them and stop partway, like notes in a margin. A flat-woven border in taupe surrounds the pile, with braided tassels along both long sides and a fringe at one end.

At 410 × 312 cm it covers the floor of a large living room almost wall to wall. The tones stay within one family, so the rug adds texture and warmth rather than pattern.
