Beni Ouarain "Charcoal Diamonds"

Rows of small charcoal diamonds repeat across an oatmeal ground in a close, even grid, each outline drawn with the slight wobble of a hand-tied knot. The density of the pattern gives the rug a textile-like calm, closer to a woven fabric than a single bold statement.

At 300 × 200 cm, this Beni Ouarain piece was hand-knotted in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco from natural sheep's wool, left undyed in the field.
