Azilal "Ochre Trace"

Fine lines of ochre and mustard yellow zigzag loosely across a cream ground, gathering in a few angular shapes before breaking off again. The drawing is light and rhythmic, closer to a sketch than a pattern, and the warm yellow gives the pale wool a sunlit quality.

Measuring 290 × 209 cm, this Azilal rug was hand-knotted in Morocco's Atlas Mountains from thick natural wool.
