Azilal "Abstract Horizon"

Three free forms cross a wide ivory field: a green band follows the left edge like a coastline, a rose and crimson line falls diagonally from the top, and a small black arc rests near the base. Between them the cream wool is left open, so the composition reads like a painting with plenty of air.

Measuring 300 × 210 cm, this contemporary Azilal rug was hand-knotted in Morocco's Atlas Mountains, where a younger generation of weavers pushes traditional technique toward abstraction.
