Beni Ouarain "Chevron Relief"

Rows of chevrons are carved into a thick cream pile so that the pattern appears as shadow rather than colour, a herringbone that shifts as you walk past it. The surface is entirely one tone, relying on texture alone for its character.

Measuring 318 × 195 cm, this Beni Ouarain rug was hand-knotted in the Middle Atlas of Morocco from undyed sheep's wool and sheared in a high-low relief.
